We now feel we have an accurate measurement of the race course:
3.7 miles, is the magic number
For the first two years of the Back 9 Endurance Run, we have various measurements of the length of a lap around the course. From the GPS data in 2021 [ and in 2020 for the practice year ] it was estimated that the course was between 3.3 and 3.5 miles. This was data from our crew at KML and the runners during the race in 2021 with their GPS devices. Then in 2022, we used more GPS devices (including AGIA software) to measure the course at 3.7 miles.
And this week we have another data point, using a measuring wheel. We walked the course with a measuring wheel and marked it at 19,439 feet. This is 3.68163 miles.
Thus, we feel comfortable in saying that each round around the course is 3.7 miles.
Have fun this year!!
